| | | 12/18/2009 | | | Alok Vidyashram is proud to announce itself as a GREEN SCHOOL and we urge you to support us in this drive. The main objectives of this program are:
• To help students nurture respect for and understanding of the natural world
• To heighten students' environmental awareness and to promote stewardship
• To develop ecological values out of first hand experience
How are we doing it?
We are starting this drive by, firstly practicing minimum wastage of paper. This will effectively minimise the deforestation of trees. The waste paper in school will be recycled in a plant that will be set up in the school itself. All messages and notices will be forwarded and posted to all the parents in the school website and Parents personal e-mail addresses as mentioned in the students admission form. Messages can also be checked by a service started at Alok Vidyashram, where parents have to type ALOK and send a SMS to 2426 and the latest updated on the message counter will be forwarded in your mobile message inbox.
The school is aiming to turn from a limited plastic zone to a no plastic zone. Parents are requested not to send any items in plastic bags in the school with the children.
Parents, we are sure that Alok being a GREEN SCHOOL will instill pride, responsibility, and cooperation among students as life-long learners and future leaders in the world and inculcate eco literacy in them. We are glad you could participate and be an integral part in this drive with us.

| | | 12/24/2008 | | | We are glad to announce that on February 10, 2009, Alok Vidyashram will have completed 15 years. To celebrate this event, we are staging Valmiki’s Ramayana in the Academy Hall on February 10, 2009 for Parents only and on February 13, 2009 for the public.
The reason we have chosen Ramayana above all other plays is:
• Ramayana is an enactment rooting from our own native culture and as a result, there definitely is an innate element of pride within us.
• Ramayana is the greatest epic written ever.
• Ramayana takes us through various relations in life and teaches us to deal with each one in a particular manner to avoid disagreements.
• Our hope is that our children, while reveling in the joy of being a part of this wondrous product of showmanship, discover and apply the universal message of compassion and love towards individuals, family and the society at large. And that they learn the importance of unwavering adherence to and taking an uncompromising stand on ‘eternal moral values’.
Mr. C.V.L. Srinivas , from India is directing the play and students of Alok Vidyashram are involved in scripting, choreographing, music composition and creating the epic Ramayana. It is a great moment for us as we at Alok Vidyashram have been able to take out the best from the students and improvise on the talents. It is recommendable that each and every student of the school from Play Group to Grade: IX are participating in the Ramayana. A student has also summarized the entire Ramayana in seven lines which you will be able to view on February 10.
Parents as always we are very appreciative of your ongoing support. The 15th Anniversary of the school is an achievement and it’s a moment when we all can share the glory of it together. Parents however, to make the show a greater success, we would need your co-operation. We have made the public show a ticketed and paid show. So, to all your friends and relatives who may be interested in viewing the play, please circulate the tickets amongst them for February 13, 2009 as Feb 10, 2009 is solely for parents. Please let us know the number of tickets you may want to sell and share in this wonderful opportunity. Costumes are also being made for all the students which the students can take with them after the show. We will provide further details on it in the month of February once the valuation has been done. Parents, if there is any field that you could help with, kindly do not hesitate to come forward and offer your assistance. Kindly fill in the sheet below to let us know of your support in any form that is possible.
